The Blessing Ceremony by the Venerable Phra Khruba Boonchum Nyanasamvaro (a.k.a. Murng Phong Sayadaw) held this afternoon at Tingewick Hall, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, was attended by well over 500 devotees.

There was a total of 9 monks , including the two Venerables, Phra Khruba Boonchum and Ven Dr. Dhammasami. The ceremony began with Pali chanting in Lanna style.

Venerable Phra Khruva Boonchum gave blessings in Shan, Thai and Burmese and a sermon in Shan which was later translated into English by Venerable Dr Dhammasami. In spite of the sermon being given in Shan, all the people who attended listened to the sermon attentively.

The event was enjoyed by all and greatly appreciated by the audience who also received rosaries, protective wrist bands, lucky money in the form of Thai Bahts and blessed water. The children as well as adults also received candies and chocolates as part of the blessing process.

The ceremony ended around 3:30 p.m. with all devotees helping to clear and tidy up the hall. All the attendees were provided with a huge range of snacks and refreshments by generous donors, which was freely available throughout the ceremony.
