The 5th SSBU Academic Training Workshop Successfully Conducted

The 5th SSBU Academic Training Workshop successfully conducted at Kambawza Shwe Li Dhamma Hall, Swe Taw Myat Pagoda Compound, Yangon.

It started on the 25th January until the 30th January 2018. The purpose of this ambitious event was to train all-inclusive to be on the same page.

Dr. Pyi Phyo Kyaw (BA Oxon, MA SOAS, PhD King’s College London), Curriculum Development Committee & Graduate Dean, Shan State Buddhist University, Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Buddhist Studies, King’s College London, UK, lectured for the development of SSBU’s syllabi and other matters related to the programme.

On 26th January 2018 (morning session), Prof. Dr. Aung Htun Thet, who  is currently the President’s Economic Advisor and working as an expert for Peace Commission (http://asean-csr-network.org/c/speakers/158-prof-dr-aung-tun-thet-presidents-economic-advisor-myanmar) gave a seminar on “Promoting Learning in Higher Education”.

On 27th January 2018 (afternoon session), Dr. Khing Kamollphan Jangarun, English lecturer, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science, Kasetsart University, Thailand lectured on “Marking English Criteria”.

On 30th January 2018 (morning session), Dr. San Tun, Professor of Philosophy, Head of the Department of Philosophy (Retired), Dagon University was also lectured on “Conceptual Learning and Teaching Philosophy in Higher Education”.

In addition, on the last day of programme, the 4th SSBU Academic Committee Meeting was also held, chaired by the Most Ven. Prof. Dr. K. Dhammasami, DPhil (Oxford), Founder of Shan State Buddhist University (SSBU) & Executive Secretary of IABU, Oxford Sayadaw, Abbot of Oxford Buddha Vihara: Attending The Union Catalogue of Buddhist Text (UCBT) Meeting on 14th and The Executive Council Meeting of the ICDV & IABU.

Historically, the 1st batch of SSBU Academic Training held in Sri Lanka (2015), the 2nd and 3rd were at SSBU campus (2017), Taunggyi and the 4th (2017) was held at Sasanalankara Mong Phone Monastery, Hmawbi, Yangon.
