On the 27th – 28th November 2017, SSBU Sangha and its committee organized the merit making ceremony marking the 53rd Birthday Anniversary of SSBU founder; the Most Venerable Prof. Dr. K. Dhammasami, DPhil (Oxford), SSBU at Shan State Buddhist University, Taunggyi, Shan State, Myanmar.
The cerebration was conducted in a success. During the two days event, the Shan people performed the Shan traditional dancing with Nok Ging Ga Rawr (Kinnara/Kinnari) and Ga Toe (Sheep dance) as to warmly welcome the guests from both domestic and international countries.
To be amazed, this year on November 27, there was an international blessing for the Venerable Dhammasami by foreign scholars who presented papers on the Tipitaka studies at ICTS conference in Nay Pyi Taw.
The same day, many Sangha and devotees also performed the ceremony of laying gold and silver bricks for the new Cetiya and SSBU Convocation Hall. The certificate for SSBU building donors was given as well.
SSBU Convocation Hall was donated by Kanbawza Bank Limited.
In the evening of both nights, a Dhamma talk session was held. The Dhamma talk masters were the Most Venerable Khuva Boonchum Nyanasamvara (Mongphone Sayadaw) and the Most Venerable Sukhaminda (Sao Su Kham), M.A (Sri Lanka).
On 27th November night, a Buddhist chanting was run from dusk to dawn by a particular group of people from Nam Lan.
What’s more, an honoring ceremony of Ven. Dr. Kittisara (Dhammacariya), who recently has got PhD degree from Mahamakut Buddhist University (MBU), Thailand was cerebrated too.
This event was a truly memorable as well as a very well supported to SSBU.
