On 25-26 November 2017, the ICTS (International Conference on Tipitaka Studies: Traditional and Contemporary was successfully held at Hotel Max in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
The conference was supported by Ayeyarwady Foundation and organized by Shan State Buddhist University (SSBU), Taunggyi, Shan State.
The ICTS organized to mark the 53rd Birthday Anniversary of the Most Venerable Prof. Dr. K. Dhammasami, Phil (Oxford), SSBU founder, SSBU.
The conference was very interesting to the Buddhist educations. Many scholars of international renown in Theravada, Mahayana and others from 14 countries such as Sri Lanka, China, Tibet, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea and Myanmar attended. In accordance with the title of ICTS, speakers presented their papers on Tipitaka studies.
Most paper sessions were spoken in English and just one was in Burmese. As to help some attendees to have better understanding, ICTS interpreters translated into both English and Burmese as well.
The high rank government religious officer of Nay Pyi Taw and the former vice president; Dr. Sai Mork Kham and his wife also participated.
Two of the Most Venerable monks in the country also joined and delivered a message on Buddhist studies in the conference.
